The Pokémon Company has exciting news for fans of the popular franchise! They announced the release of a new weekly animated series called Pokétoon shorts. These shorts will be available for viewing every Wednesday for a total of eight weeks. The first episode is already up on YouTube, with subsequent episodes to follow each week.

This isn’t the first time Pokémon has dabbled in animated shorts. The first Pokétoon short, titled “POKÉTOON: Scraggy and Mimikyu,” premiered back in June 2020 on the Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel. Fans can catch up on eight shorts from the previous run on the same channel, complete with English subtitles for those who need them.

The team behind these delightful shorts includes Taku Inoue as the animation director, with Yoshiyuki Koie serving as the producer. The animation features the talents of Miyako Makio, Ryousuke Senbo, Shinichi Suzuki, and Shūya Yoshisato. Backgrounds are drawn by Tsutomu Ikeda, and Kei Tsuda provides the music.

Following the success of the initial shorts, two new additions, “Hero ni Naritai Yanchamu” (Pancham Who Wants to Be a Hero) and “Yume no Tsubomi” (Dreaming Tsubomi), were introduced in May and June 2021. Subsequent shorts, such as “Mattete ne Koiking” (Just Wait, Magikarp) and “Poka-Poka MaguMaggu House” (Cozy Slugma House), have been well-received by fans.

With a mix of heartwarming stories and charming animations, these Pokétoon shorts are a must-watch for any Pokémon enthusiast. Stay tuned for the release of new episodes every Wednesday and immerse yourself in the magical world of Pokémon like never before!
