The live-action series of Reiko Shimizu’s Himitsu – Top Secret manga has revealed its main cast and premiere date. Yūto Nakajima will play the roles of Ikkō Aoki and Katsuhiro Suzuki, while Rihito Itagaki will portray Tsuyoshi Maki. The series is set to premiere in January 2025 on Fuji TV, Kansai TV, and their affiliated channels, airing on Mondays at 10:00 p.m. (8:00 a.m. EST).
The story is set in Japan in the future, where advanced brain scanners allow the government to extract up to five years of memories from individuals, even after death. The investigators of the National Research Institute of Police Science’s 9th Forensics Laboratory use this technology to solve crimes, raising ethical questions about privacy invasion.
Himitsu – Top Secret previously inspired a television anime in 2008 and a live-action film in 2016. The manga also has a spinoff titled Himitsu Season 0, which debuted in 2012. The 10th volume of the manga was released in Japan in July 2021, with a new arc starting in October 2023 after a hiatus.
