TV Tokyo recently unveiled a visual and teaser video for the upcoming live-action series called Sorezore no Kodoku no Gourmet (To Each Their Own Solitary Gourmet). This series, based on Masayuki Kusumi and Jiro Taniguchi’s Kodoku no Gourmet (Solitary Gourmet) manga, is set to premiere on October 4.

The new omnibus series will feature various main characters embarking on their own culinary adventures, in addition to the familiar character Gorō portrayed by Yutaka Matsushige. This project is part of the Kodoku no Gourmet Project, which marks the series’ 12 years of broadcast and TV Tokyo’s 60th anniversary.

Moreover, a live-action film is also part of this project, with Yutaka Matsushige reprising his role as the lead actor, as well as directing and co-writing the film alongside Yoshihiro Taguchi. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 10.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Kodoku no Gourmet follows a solitary salesman named Gorō Inagashira as he travels across Japan sampling local cuisine from street vendors. The live-action show’s 10th season premiered in October 2022, and a six-episode mini-series project titled Kodoku no Gourmet ~Oishii kedo Horo Nigai… Inagashira Gorō no Sainan~ aired on streaming services in 2022.

The manga, initially serialized from 1994 to 1996, has also inspired a net anime and an English release by Fanfare and Ponent Mon. Despite initial delays, the English release is now set for December 17, 2024.

Fans of the series can look forward to the new live-action series and film, which aim to capture the essence of the beloved manga and bring it to life on screen. Stay tuned for the premiere on TV Tokyo and its affiliates on October 4.
