In the first season that premiered in April 2021, viewers followed the story of an immortal witch who spent 300 years enjoying a relaxing life but ended up at level 99 after killing slimes to pay the bills. The witch becomes the strongest in the world, attracting curious adventurers, duelist dragons, and even a monster girl who sees her as a mother. The light novel series, written by Kisetsu Morita, ranked at #9 in the 2019 edition of the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! guidebook.

Morita’s novel series originally debuted on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in June 2016 before being published in print by SB Creative. The manga adaptation by Yusuke Shiba premiered on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website in June 2017. Additionally, a spinoff novel titled “I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years” was released, along with a manga adaptation by Meishi Murakami. Yen Press is releasing both the main novel series and the spinoff novel in English, as well as the manga adaptations.
