The television anime adaptation of Kōji Shinasaka’s Tohai: Ura Rate Mahjong Tohai Roku manga has unveiled its third promotional video, main visual, and new cast members. The video gives a glimpse of the opening theme song “GAMBLING HALL” by Masayoshi Ōishi.

The newly announced cast includes Toshihiko Seki as Hideharu Seki, a versatile figure with connections in the underworld, Takehito Koyasu as Hatakeyama, a enigmatic college student, and Yōko Hikasa as Ai, a cold and ruthless mahjong player. The series is set to premiere on October 4 at 2:23 a.m. on MBS and TBS before airing on other networks.

The anime follows high school boy Kei, known as ‘K of Ice’ in the underworld for his calculated strategies and stylish gameplay in the underground mahjong scene. Rumors swirl about him keeping a girl at his home. The manga, serialized from 2006 to 2011, has inspired various spin-offs and a live-action film in 2013.

Directed by Jun Hatori at EAST FISH STUDIO, the series features Kohsuke Tanabe, Shunsuke Takeuchi, Fairouz Ai, Tsuyoshi Koyama, and Chinatsu Akasaki in leading roles. Mariko Kunisawa oversees the series scripts, Sayaka Anesaki designs the characters, and Yūsuke Shirato and Yūki Kishida compose the music. The idol group Taiyo to Odore Tsukiyo ni Utae will perform the ending theme song “PLASTIC SHOWCASE.”
