In early 2024, the highly anticipated Mobile Suit Gundam Seed film made its debut in the anime world. The film quickly became a success, selling over 634,000 tickets in Japan within the first three days of its release. As fans eagerly await the physical release of the film, they can expect some amazing extras in the limited-edition versions.
Fans will be pleased to know that the official Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Twitter account announced on August 5 that the box art for the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM Blu-ray Mighty Edition will feature an original piece by the film’s character designer Hisashi Hirai and mechanical animation director Satoshi Shigeta. The box set is set to include a range of extras, such as 67 illustration cards, a limited-edition High Grade 1/144 Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam [Limited Clear] gunpla, a 48-page illustration book, original novel, drama CD, a leaflet, 2 bonus discs, and a 20-page booklet. However, the Blu-ray Mighty Edition comes with a hefty price tag of 27,500 yen (about US$194.00) and is only available for purchase through the A-On Store and Premium Bandai Store in Japan.
The Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM DVDs and Blu-ray Discs are scheduled to be released on December 25 in Japan. Unfortunately, fans outside of Japan may find it difficult to get their hands on a copy of this special box set. Despite this, the release promises to be a must-have for any avid Gundam fan.
With the stunning original artwork by Hirai and Shigeta, along with a plethora of extra goodies, the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM Blu-ray Mighty Edition is sure to be a collector’s dream.
