Masakazu Ishiguro’s manga Nemurubaka will be adapted into a live-action film set to release in Japan in the spring of 2025. The film will be directed by Yūgo Sakamoto, known for Baby Assassins.

The story follows the daily lives of college dorm roommates Yumi Irusu and Ruka Kujirai. Ruka, the older of the two, struggles with financial issues despite being active in a band, while Irusu works part-time at a second-hand bookstore.

The manga was originally serialized in Monthly Comic Ryū magazine from September 2006 to January 2008. Ishiguro has also created other popular works like And Yet the Town Moves and Heavenly Delusion, both of which have been adapted into anime. And Yet the Town Moves anime premiered in 2010, while Heavenly Delusion aired in April 2023.

In addition to the upcoming live-action film, Ishiguro’s works have also received English releases. Present for Me and Skygrazer are among the titles that have been made available to English-speaking audiences.
