The Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon (My Happy Marriage) television anime has exciting news for fans as the second season has announced its cast and staff for Winter 2025. The official website revealed three new cast members, new staff, a teaser visual, and a teaser promo to build up anticipation for the upcoming season.
The second season, based on Akumi Agitogi’s historical fantasy novel, is set to start airing in January 2025. Fans can look forward to seeing familiar faces from the first season, as well as new additions to the cast. Ryoutarou Okiayu, known for his role in Shuumatsu no Walküre II Part 2, will be voicing Tadakiyo Kudou. Kikuko Inoue from Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari will play Fuyu Kudou, and Yuuya Uchida, known for his work in 86 Part 2, will voice Naoshi Usui.
The direction of the second season will be a collaboration between Masayuki Kojima from Made in Abyss and Takehiro Kubota, the assistant director of Id:Invaded. Kinema Citrus will be the studio behind the production, with Kuniyuki Itou serving as the sub-character designer. Ami Satou, along with Minori Hashiba, Fuuka Ishii, and Momoka Toyoda, will be in charge of the series composition and script.
Returning staff members include character designer Shouko Yasuda and music composer Evan Call, who have both played key roles in shaping the anime’s visual and auditory elements. The first season of Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon aired in Summer 2023, with Netflix streaming the series globally. An original anime episode was also released with the eighth light novel volume.
The story of Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon, also known as Watakon, began as a fantasy romance novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2018. The light novel series, illustrated by Tsukiho Tsukioka, has been well-received, with a total of 9 million copies in circulation. A manga adaptation by Rito Kousaka has also been published, with Square Enix releasing the fifth volume in July.
Fans outside of Japan can enjoy the light novel and manga adaptation in English, as Yen Press and Square Enix have licensed the series. The latest volumes were released in August and September, respectively, allowing fans to delve deeper into the world of Watakon.
