Paru Itagaki, the mastermind behind the popular manga BEASTARS, has ventured into the world of horror with her latest creation, Ushimitsu Gao. This new manga made its debut on Akita Publishing’s Champion Cross platform, introducing readers to a chilling tale.
The story follows Megumi Sano, a 33-year-old housewife who finds herself in a peculiar paranormal predicament. Sano, who is already attuned to spiritual energies, encounters a ghost one fateful night while being intimate with her husband. Instead of fear, Sano is overcome with embarrassment as the ghost becomes a regular visitor, observing her mundane married life.
Apart from her work on BEASTARS, Itagaki’s SANDA manga is also making waves with an upcoming anime adaptation. Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion in July 2021, the series has amassed 16 volumes as of August 8, 2024, captivating audiences with its unique storytelling.
