Anime industry veteran Jan Scott-Frazier recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her assisted living costs after a robbery left her in debt. The incident occurred when someone stole her remaining cash, putting her $6,000 in debt. She also entered intensive care due to health issues and is currently in the hospital for a month, with plans to go to rehab upon discharge.

The crowdfunding campaign aims to raise $6,000 to assist with her rent and medical expenses. Thus far, the campaign has garnered $1,925 of its goal. This is not the first time Frazier has turned to crowdfunding for support. In August, she initiated a campaign to aid in her transition to assisted living, as she requires round-the-clock care. That campaign surpassed its $12,000 goal, raising $15,003 with the help of donors.

Frazier’s contributions to the anime industry span over 13 years, with roles ranging from producer to technical director. She made history as the first foreigner to work in the production department of a Japanese animation studio when she joined Artland in 1989. Her extensive experience includes founding her production company and working with renowned creators like Izumi Matsumoto.

Voice actress Amanda Winn Lee, known for her roles in “Neon Genesis Evangelion” and “Persona 4,” previously spearheaded a crowdfunding campaign on Frazier’s behalf in 2022. The funds were used to address Frazier’s medical issues and support her as a caretaker for her elderly mother. The campaign exceeded its $10,000 target, raising $14,130.

Frazier’s impact on the industry is evident through her work at Production I.G. USA and her collaborations on various animation projects. Her resilience in facing personal challenges underscores the community’s support for her well-being. As the GoFundMe campaign progresses, every donation contributes to easing Frazier’s financial burden and ensuring her continued care.
