Sonic X Shadow Generations: Trailers for ‘Dark Beginnings’ Animated Web Series
Sega’s Sonic Central stream recently unveiled exciting news for fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. A trailer for the Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings animated web series was revealed, serving as a 3-part prologue for the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations game. The first episode is set to premiere online on Wednesday, with subsequent episodes following on October 3 and October 10.
Additionally, a story trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations was released during the stream, giving fans a glimpse into the narrative they can expect from the game. The 24-page “Gerald Robotnik’s Journal” booklet will be included in all physical day-1 editions of the game, adding an extra layer of depth to the gaming experience. Sega also treated fans to an informercial styled video, harkening back to classic advertising methods.
The highly anticipated game is scheduled for release on October 25 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Sonic X Shadow Generations is a compilation of iconic 2D and 3D Sonic levels from Sonic Generations, remastered and expanded. In addition to the familiar levels, players will also have the opportunity to embark on a new standalone campaign where they can play as Shadow the Hedgehog, offering a fresh perspective on the beloved characters.
Originally released in 2011 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sonic franchise, Sonic Generations received critical acclaim for its innovative gameplay and nostalgic appeal. The game was initially launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before later becoming available for PC and Nintendo 3DS.
