Voice Actor Peter Renaday, best known for his role as Master Splinter in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV show, has passed away at the age of 89. The news was announced by fellow voice actor Townsend Coleman on X/Twitter. Renaday was found deceased in his home in Burbank, California on September 8 after a welfare check by the police.

In addition to his iconic role as Master Splinter, Renaday also lent his voice to various anime projects such as Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Pom Poko, Ultraman: The Adventure Begins, Transformers, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, and Howl’s Moving Castle. His talent extended to video games like Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Dead Rising, and Fallout: New Vegas, as well as TV shows such as Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Samurai Jack, and Batman: The Animated Series.

Renaday’s versatility as a voice actor was further showcased in theme park attractions like Disney World’s “Country Bear Jamboree” and “The Hall of Presidents.” Born Pierre Renoudet in New Iberia, Louisiana, he was married to Florence “Flo” June Daniel until her passing in 2011.
