Level 5 recently announced the upcoming release of a new Nintendo Switch game in the Professor Layton series. The game, titled “Professor Layton and The New World of Steam,” is set to be released in 2025, as revealed in a trailer unveiled during the LEVEL5 VISION 2024 TO THE WORLD’S CHILDREN event.
The trailer gives a sneak peek into the story and gameplay of the game, teasing that it will feature “the most puzzles in series history.” The game will pick up after the events of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, the third game in the franchise for Nintendo DS.
Fans of the series will be excited to know that Yō Ōizumi will be returning to voice Layton, while Mio Imada will be taking on the role of Luke Triton. The setting of the game is Steam Bison, America, where Luke has relocated to and invites Layton to visit. The puzzles in the game are being created by Quiz Knock, a group known for crafting puzzles and riddles for media.
This new game comes after the release of Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Journey, the previous entry in the series. Originally launched in Japan for Nintendo 3DS and later for iOS and Android devices worldwide, the game made its way to the Switch in 2018. The success of the game led to the creation of the Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File anime series, which aired from 2018 to 2019.
Fans of the Professor Layton series can look forward to diving into a new adventure filled with challenging puzzles and intriguing mysteries when “Professor Layton and The New World of Steam” is released in 2025. Stay tuned for more updates and details as the release date approaches.
