PQube’s I*CHU: Chibi Edition Game’s Western Release Set for October 3

PQube recently announced that the I*CHU: Chibi Edition game will be released in the West on October 3 for the Nintendo Switch. The game features over 80 original songs, a visual novel storyline, and a zero-microtransaction gacha system.

In this rhythm action game, players guide 32 aspiring idols towards their debut, unlock characters through rhythm action games, and create their own idol groups. The game follows the characters’ journeys through the main story, allowing players to support them through their struggles.

Originally released as a smartphone game in 2015, I★CHU features 42 voice actors in the main story who perform original songs. The game is set in a talent agency’s academy that trains budding idols. While the original online service ended in 2020, an updated offline version was made available until December of the same year. A new game, I★CHU Étoile Stage, launched in 2020 and ended service in 2021. A Nintendo Switch version of the original game was released in Japan in 2022.

The game also inspired the I★CHU: Halfway Through The Idol anime series, which premiered in January 2021 and was streamed by Crunchyroll. Fans of rhythm games and idol simulations can look forward to the Western release of I*CHU: Chibi Edition on October 3.
