Shueisha recently announced the release of a second novel for the popular manga series “Oshi no Ko.” The novel, titled “Futari no Etude” (Etude for Two), is set to launch on December 18 and will focus on the characters Kana Arima and Akane Kurokawa. The novel is penned by Hajime Tanaka, with supervision from Aka Akasaka, the creator of “Kaguya-sama: Love is War.”
This announcement comes after the success of the first novel in the series, “Ichiban Hoshi no Spica” (Spica The First Evening Star), which debuted in November 2023. The first novel follows the character Ai shortly after she joins B-Komachi and explores her decision to quit her idol career. The novel also includes a side story about Sarina and Goro’s meeting before the events of the series, along with a bonus story by Akasaka.
“Oshi no Ko” manga, created by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, has been a hit since its launch in April 2020 in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine. The manga has over 17.5 million copies in circulation and is currently in its final arc titled “Hoshi ni Yume ni” (Toward the Stars and Dreams), set to conclude on November 14. The final compiled volume will be released in Japan on December 18.
Yen Press has licensed the manga and describes the story as following Gorou, a gynecologist and idol fan who forms an unexpected bond with his favorite star Ai. The outrageous story explores the world of idols and the relationships between fans and celebrities.
The manga has also been adapted into a successful television anime series, with a third season already in the works. Additionally, a live-action series adaptation is set to debut on Amazon Prime worldwide on November 28, followed by a sequel film in theaters on December 20.
Fans of “Oshi no Ko” can look forward to more content and developments in the beloved series, as the novel and upcoming adaptations continue to expand the world and characters created by Akasaka and Yokoyari.
