The anime sequel Demon Lord, Retry! R has recently premiered on October 5, and fans quickly noticed that most of the voice actors had been replaced. The only returning actor is Kenjirō Tsuda as Hakuto Kunai, while the rest of the characters have new actors. Original author Kurone Kanzaki explained on Twitter that scheduling conflicts were the main reason for the casting changes. The original cast members were in high demand due to their popularity, leading to the decision to audition new actors for the roles.

Kanzaki expressed a strong desire to keep Tsuda as the main character and successfully convinced the production team to retain him. As a result, Tsuda remains as Hakuto Kunai while the rest of the cast features new talent. Momo Asakura, Azumi Waki, Iori Noguchi, Aina Suzuki, Wataru Komada, Minori Suzuki, Mirai Tachibana, and Kentarō Kumagai have been cast in various roles for Demon Lord, Retry! R.

In a light-hearted moment, Kanzaki mentioned the return of the original voice cast for the new Ranma ½ anime, contrasting it with the challenges faced in securing the original actors for Demon Lord, Retry! R. The author humorously commented that Demon Lord, Retry! R lacks the same level of influence and nostalgia as Ranma ½, making it difficult to bring back the previous actors.

J-Novel Club, the publisher of Demon Lord, Retry! R, provided a brief overview of the series. The story follows the Demon Lord as he embarks on new adventures, encountering mysterious entities and facing off against Grand Devils in Hellion Territory. With the addition of a new advisor named Akane, the Demon Lord’s army becomes more diverse and their escapades even more outrageous.
