The live-action series adaptation of Nozomi Yanahara’s Takasugi-san’s Obento manga has revealed more cast members and the theme song for the show. The theme song “Acchi Muite Hoi” will be performed by NEWS to celebrate their 500th song. The new cast members include Yui Ichikawa, Yuno Ohara, Ayaka Namiki, Raito Kimura, Rie Mimura, Kazuaki Hankai, Akane Takayanagi, and Hikaru Tashiro.

Yui Ichikawa will play Reiko Kayama, an associate professor at Haru’s university, while Yuno Ohara will portray Riina Kosaka, an underclassman researcher aiming to become a professor. Ayaka Namiki will play Natsuki Kayama, Kururi’s classmate who is at the top of the school’s hierarchy. Raito Kimura will be Mitsuru Marumiya, Kururi’s classmate known as the mood-maker. Rie Mimura will portray Miya Takasugi, Kururi’s mother and Haru’s aunt. Kazuaki Hankai will play Kurō Fūya, a professor mentoring Haru. Akane Takayanagi will portray Asako Marumiya, an employee at the supermarket frequented by Haru and Kururi. Hikaru Tashiro will play the younger version of Haru during his high school days.

The series will star Keiichiro Koyama as Harumi Takasugi and Kokoro Hirasawa as Kururi. The series is set to premiere on October 2 on Chukyo TV and Nippon TV’s “Wednesday Platinum Night” programming block at 24:29 JST.

The manga, originally serialized in Monthly Comic Flapper, follows the story of Harumi, a 31-year-old unemployed graduate, who takes care of his cousin Kururi after his aunt’s passing. The series promises a mix of bittersweet memories and surprising moments as the duo navigates cooking and life together.

Yanahara’s manga will receive a “revival publication” in the upcoming issue of Monthly Comic Flapper on October 4. The series has garnered 10 compiled book volumes and has been previously published in English by Digital Manga Publishing.
