The Catcher in the Ballpark! Anime Announced

Tatsuro Suga’s manga, The Catcher in the Ballpark!, is officially set to be adapted into an anime series. The announcement was made for a release in 2025, and fans were treated to the launch of an official website, teaser trailer, visual, and details about the staff and cast.

In this upcoming adaptation, Fairouz Ai, known for her role as Jolyne Cujoh in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, will be taking on the lead role of Ruriko. Satoshi Inomata will be joining her as Murata. Fans can catch a glimpse of their anime designs in the images released.

The manga first appeared in Kodansha’s Morning magazine back in September 2020. It has gained popularity over time, with the 15th volume scheduled for release in Japan on November 21st.

The storyline revolves around Murata, an office worker who crosses paths with Ruriko, a gyaru-style girl selling beer at the ballpark. Despite her initial cold demeanor towards Murata, she begins to show her true innocent self when he becomes her regular customer.

The anime adaptation will be helmed by Jun’ichi Kitamura, known for his work on Fluffy Paradise. Shigeru Murakoshi, who worked on The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse, will be handling the series composition. Fumio Iida will be in charge of character designs for the production by EMT Squared.
