Japanese publisher Sekai Bunka-sha recently announced that the popular Nandeyanen picture book series will be getting a light anime adaptation. The term “light anime” was coined by Dai Nippon Printing in 2022 to describe a quicker and more cost-effective process of producing an anime adaptation. The light anime adaptation of Nandeyanen will be streaming exclusively on Netflix in Japan starting on December 1.
The Nandeyanen picture book series, which features silly and hilarious stories, was first published in 2013 by Sekai Bunka-sha. The series includes titles such as “Ofuro de Nandeyanen” (What the Heck Are You Doing in the Bath?), “Yūenchi de Nandeyanen” (What the Heck Are You Doing at the Amusement Park?), “Mahō de Nandeyanen” (What the Heck Are You Doing With Magic?), and “Umi de Nandeyanen” (What the Heck Are You Doing at the Beach?). The most recent books in the series were credited to Tsubasa Suzuki and Hiroe Aoki for the text and illustrations.
Fans of the Nandeyanen series can look forward to enjoying the light anime adaptation on Netflix, bringing the charming and comical stories to life in a new and exciting way. Stay tuned for the release on December 1!
