A recent stage presentation at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair introduced three new cast members for the upcoming Blue Box anime. The event revealed Shōgo Sakata as Ryōsuke Nishida, Anna Nagase as Nagisa Funami, and Asaki Yuikawa as Niina Shimazaki. The anime is set to premiere on October 3 at 11:56 p.m. in Japan, airing on TBS and 28 affiliated networks. Additionally, it will stream on Netflix from October 4, with the first two episodes available at launch.

The main cast includes Shōya Chiba as Taiki Inomata, Reina Ueda as Chinatsu Kano, Akari Kitō as Hina Chono, Chiaki Kobayashi as Kyo Kasahara, and Yūma Uchida as Kengo Haryū. The director of the anime is Yūichirō Yano, with Yūko Kakihara overseeing the series scripts and Miho Tanino designing the characters. Telecom Animation Film is handling the animation production, and UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS is managing planning and production.

The opening theme song “Same Blue” will be performed by Official HiGE DANdism, while the ending theme song “Teenage Blue” will be sung by Eve. The manga, originally published as a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2020, follows Taiki Inomata, a member of the boys’ badminton team at Eimei Junior and Senior High, who falls in love with basketball player Chinatsu Kano. The series delves into themes of love, sports, and youth. With over 5 million copies in circulation, the manga continues to captivate readers.
