The live-action television series of Masakazu Katsura’s Wingman manga has unveiled a key visual and introduced seven new cast members. The series is set to premiere on October 22, and the new cast members include Hina Kikuchi as Miku Ogawa, Hiyori Katada as Kumiko Fuzawa, Amane Uehara as Momoko Morimoto, Jōtarō as Tomō Fukumoto, Yūno Ōhara as Sakagami, Ui Mihara as Kurotsu, and Haruki Tachibana as Tatsuo Saitō. The series will star Maito Fujioka as Kenta Hirono and Konatsu Kato as Aoi.

Directed by Kōichi Sakamoto, the series will feature scripts by Yoshitatsu Yamada, Masaki Nishigaki, and Yuya Nakazono. Rock band BLUE ENCOUNT will provide the opening theme song “chang[e].” The series will air on TV Tokyo and Toei Video in collaboration with DMM TV, with episodes premiering every Tuesday starting on October 22.

Wingman follows the story of Kenta Hirono, a middle school student with a passion for tokusatsu who dreams of becoming a hero. When a mysterious woman named Aoi appears from the realm of Podreams, Kenta is able to transform into his superhero alter ego Wingman and join the fight between good and evil. The manga originally ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1985 and inspired an anime adaptation in 1984.

Masakazu Katsura, the creator of Wingman, is known for his work on various manga series that have been adapted into anime and live-action, including Video Girl Ai, DNA², I’s, and Zetman. Additionally, Katsura has provided character designs for popular anime such as Tiger & Bunny and Double Decker! Doug & Kirill.
