The live-action film adaptation of the popular manga series Cells at Work! has revealed three new cast members. Takashi Tsukamoto will play Teacher Neutrophil, Wataru Ichinose will portray the captain of the external anal sphincter, and DJ KOO will take on the role of Neuron. The film is set to premiere in Japan on December 13th.
The movie will also feature a star-studded cast including Mei Nagano as Red Blood Cell, Takeru Satō as White Blood Cell, and Sadao Abe as unhealthy father Shigeru Urushizaki. The theme song “50%” will be performed by Official HiGE DANdism.
Cells at Work! was originally created by Akane Shimizu and has garnered a massive following since its debut in 2015. The manga series has spawned multiple spin-offs, including Cells at Work and Friends!, Cells at Work: Code Black, and Cells at Work: Platelets!, all of which have been well-received by fans.
The first season of the anime adaptation premiered in 2018, followed by a second season in 2021. The franchise’s popularity has only continued to grow, with new spin-off manga series like Hataraku Saibō Muscle and Hataraku Saibō Neko launching recently.
