Warner Bros. Pictures recently released a featurette video for the upcoming anime film, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.” The video, titled “An All New Story,” provides a glimpse into the film with behind-the-scenes footage and comments from the cast and staff. The film, directed by Kenji Kamiyama, is set to premiere in U.S. theaters on December 13 and internationally on December 11.

The story of the film takes place 183 years before the events of the original “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. It follows the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan, as they face a sudden attack from Wulf, a Dunlending lord seeking vengeance. The film portrays the daring last stand of Helm and his people at the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg, later known as Helm’s Deep. The narrative focuses on Héra, Helm’s daughter, who must lead the resistance against a deadly enemy threatening their destruction.

The cast includes Brian Cox as Helm Hammerhand, Gaia Wise as Hera, Luke Pasqualino as Wulf, and Miranda Otto reprising her role as Éowyn. Notably, Philippa Boyens, known for her work on the script for the live-action “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies, is a consultant on this film.

In the Japanese dub, Masachika Ichimura voices Helm Hammerhand, Fūka Koshiba voices Hera, and Kenjirō Tsuda voices Wulf. The film also features the late Sir Christopher Lee’s voice for the character Saruman from the original live-action films.

“The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” is produced by Joseph Chou, with Jason DeMarco from Adult Swim serving as a producer. The theme song, “The Rider,” is performed by Paris Paloma.

Fans can anticipate the film’s release in Japan on December 27, with a star-studded cast and a compelling narrative set against the backdrop of Middle-earth. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated anime adaptation.
