Tsuneo Goda, the creator of the popular Domo-kun mascot, is releasing a new film featuring his character Komaneko. The film, titled “Komaneko no Kaigai Ryokō” (Komaneko’s Overseas Trip), will premiere on October 25. This film marks Komaneko’s first overseas adventure and will be shown alongside three previous Komaneko shorts.

Goda’s production studio, dwarf studios, announced the film on August 3 and the official website unveiled a long trailer and poster visual on October 3. Goda is directing the film and designing the characters, with Noriko Matsumoto as the executive producer and Ayano Kinashi as the producer. The animation is being handled by Hirokazu Minegishi, Junko Negishi, and Shuhei Harada.

Komaneko was originally introduced in a short film in 2003 and has since gained popularity through various projects, including film screenings and appearances at international film festivals. In addition to Komaneko, dwarf studios has worked on other animation projects such as Pokémon Concierge and Rilakkuma and Kaoru.
