Gundam Silver Phantom VR Anime Streams 2nd Promo Video

Bandai Namco Filmworks and Atlas V’s Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom feature-length VR anime recently streamed its second promotional video. The anime takes place after the events of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series, where an Earth commander defects to a new group formed from the remaining Neo Zeon members. A mercenary group is then hired to go after her.

The main cast for the Japanese version includes Yūki Shin, Atsumi Tanezaki, Mariya Ise, Yukari Oribe, Ryō Hirohashi, Yūki Kaji, Kikuko Inoue, and Hiroya Egashira. The English dub cast features Brandon McInnis, Jeannie Tirado, Lizzie Freeman, Rebeka Thomas, Cristina Vee, Howard Wang, Dawn M. Bennett, and Armen Taylor.

The anime premiered on October 3 on Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3S headsets. Kenichi Suzuki directed the anime, while Ryōji Sekinishi wrote the script. Tsukasa Kotobuki designed the characters, and Mika Akitaka handled mechanical design. Yoshiya Ikeda composed the music, and Sadayoshi Fujino served as the sound director. The theme song “Across the World” was performed by Shōko Nakagawa.

Pierre Zandrowicz and Ken Iyadomi first revealed the project at Anime NYC in 2023. The story is set in the Universal Century 0096. Another Gundam project, Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, consisting of six 30-minute episodes, will stream on Netflix worldwide. The animation for this project was produced entirely with Unreal Engine 5 from Epic Games.
