The Game Awards 2024 nominees have been revealed, showcasing a variety of Japanese-made games in contention for top honors. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Astro Bot, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, and Metaphor: ReFantazio are among the titles competing for Game of the Year, with each game also nominated in multiple other categories.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is not only up for Game of the Year but also Best Narrative, Best Performance (Briana White as Aerith), Best Game Direction, Best RPG, Best Score and Music, and Best Audio Design. Similarly, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion is nominated for Best Score and Music, Best RPG, Best Game Direction, and Best Art Direction.

Astro Bot is contending for Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Family Game, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, and Best Audio Design. Metaphor: ReFantazio is in the running for Best Score and Music, Best RPG, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction.

While these games are vying for the top awards, other Japanese titles like Final Fantasy XIV, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Marvel vs CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics are also recognized in various categories such as Best Community Support, Best Online Game, Best Fighting Game, and more.

The winners of the Game Awards 2024 will be announced on December 12 at LA’s Peacock Theatre. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be available for streaming online. The victors will be determined by a voting jury and fan votes cast online.
