The spinoff series of the popular anime “Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun” has been canceled. The series, titled “Makai no Shuyaku wa Wareware da! (The Protagonist of the Demon World is Us),” will end its serialization due to difficult circumstances related to the reorganization of the “◯◯ no Shuyaku wa Wareware da” YouTuber group.
The spinoff series, which is connected to the main series and the YouTuber group, will conclude the story of Teufel Shaoron and his Our Battler club up to volume 22. Additionally, the “Tonton no Sо̄danmeshi no Yoakeze yo” story will be wrapped up in one compiled book volume.
Atsu Tsudanuma launched the collaborative series in Akita Publishing’s Shōnen Champion magazine in January 2020. The 19th compiled book volume was released on September 6. The “◯◯ no Shuyaku wa Wareware da!” group is known for creating “Let’s Play” videos on Nico Nico Video and YouTube, starting with videos of the Hearts of Iron 2 strategy game.
This cancellation comes after the end of Nishi’s Kalego spinoff manga “Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: Kalego Gaiden” in January 18. The original “Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun” manga, created by Nishi, began in March 2017 in Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine.
The news of the cancellation was announced on the official X account for the series on Wednesday. This marks a sad development for fans of the spinoff series, but the main series continues to be a fan favorite.
