Amazon Prime Video announced that they will be adding the anime film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s “Look Back” one-shot manga to their platform worldwide on November 7. The film, directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama, originally premiered in Japanese theaters on June 28 and has been well-received by audiences.
The story follows Fujino, a fourth-grader who creates four-panel comics for the school newspaper, and Kyomoto, her classmate who has been skipping school. The film explores their unlikely friendship and the power of art to bring people together.
Director Kiyotaka Oshiyama, known for works like “Flip Flappers,” was also responsible for the screenplay and character designs of the film. The voice cast includes YĆ«mi Kawai as Fujino and Mizuki Yoshida as Kyomoto. The film has already made waves in North America, earning over $600,000 in the U.S. box office during its opening weekend.
The original manga debuted on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform in July 2021 and quickly gained popularity, with over 2.5 million views on its first day. Viz Media and MANGA Plus have released the manga digitally in English, with a print version published by Viz Media in 2022.
