Sunrise Robot Laboratory has recently released a new experimental movie titled AURA BATTLER DUNBINE SIDE R, following the success of their previous project AURA BATTLER DUNBINE SIDE L. The letter R in the title represents “Respect,” “Refine,” and “Revolution,” while the L in the previous title stood for “Legacy” and “Legend.” This new movie features animated footage and the theme song “Remaining Story” by MindaRyn.

Bandai Namco Filmworks established Sunrise Robot Laboratory on May 8, 2024, with the aim of exploring and analyzing the mechanics created in Sunrise works, particularly focusing on robots, to showcase the appeal of anime to a global audience. The experimental movies are a collaboration between Bandai Namco Filmworks and animation studio Kamikaze Douga, known for their work on Batman Ninja.

For those unfamiliar with the original Aura Battler Dunbine anime, which aired from 1983-1984, the story follows 18-year-old Shou Zama who is transported from Tokyo to the war-torn world of Byston Well. There, he joins the resistance against the oppressive ruler Drake Luft and utilizes his Aura Powers to pilot a lavender-colored mecha in the fight for freedom.

The release of AURA BATTLER DUNBINE SIDE R continues to expand on the world and themes of the classic series, offering fans and newcomers alike a fresh perspective on the iconic mecha franchise.
