The beloved anime “Ranma 1/2” has made a powerful comeback, following the success of the 2022 “Urusei Yatsura” anime. This iconic rom-com series, created by Rumiko Takahashi, is now available for streaming on Netflix, attracting both new viewers and long-time fans. One of the highlights of the new anime is the talented cast of voice actors who bring the beloved characters to life.

Returning to reprise their roles are familiar voices such as Kappei Yamaguchi and Megumi Hayashibara, who portray the main character, Ranma Saotome. Both actors have extensive experience in voicing characters in other Takahashi adaptations, such as “Inuyasha” and “RIN-NE.” Additionally, Noriko Hidaka, known for her roles in “Inuyasha” and “Gunbuster,” returns as Akane, while Rei Sakuma takes on the role of Shampoo once again.

Koichi Yamadera, known for his work in “Cowboy Bebop” and “Lupin the 3rd,” also returns to voice Ryoga Hibiki and the Jusenkyo Guide. The familiar voices of these returning stars add a sense of nostalgia and authenticity to the new adaptation of “Ranma 1/2.”

Joining the original cast are new voices that bring fresh energy to the series. Tomokazu Sugita, recognized for his roles in “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” and “Gintama,” lends his voice to Tatewaki Kuno. Ayane Sakura, known for her role as Ochaco in “My Hero Academia,” takes on the character of Kodachi, adding a dynamic presence to the cast.

Akio Ohtsuka, who has voiced characters in “Metal Gear” and “My Hero Academia,” joins the cast as Soun Tendo, the father of the Tendo sisters. Additionally, Tomokazu Seki, known for his work in “Initial D” and “Fate/stay night,” voices the new character Ichiro, a school reporter created specifically for this adaptation.

One interesting change in the cast is the recasting of Genma Saotome, Ranma’s father, with Cho taking on the role. However, fans can still hear Kenichi Ogata, the original voice actor for Genma, as the narrator at the start of each episode, adding a familiar touch to the series.

With a mix of returning favorites and new talents, the cast of the “Ranma 1/2” anime brings a fresh perspective to this classic series. Fans can now enjoy the timeless humor and dynamic characters of “Ranma 1/2” on Netflix, immersing themselves in the world of martial arts, romance, and comedy once again.
