The opening of the Expo 2025 Osaka world’s fair is highly anticipated, especially with the addition of the full-size RX-78F00/E Gundam statue on Yumeshima Island. In preparation for the grand opening on April 13, 2025, the Gundam statue has already received a Shinto blessing from a priest, following a traditional purification ritual, blessing, and prayer for a safe completion of the construction.

This ritual is not uncommon in Japan, as previous Gundam statues in Yokohama and Kyushu have also been blessed by Shinto priests. Bandai Namco, one of the sponsors of Expo 2025, is keen on showcasing the uniqueness of this particular Gundam statue at the upcoming event. The Gundam Next Future Pavilion has revealed some distinctive features of the statue, such as blue paneling and improved visibility of its back and feet, setting it apart from its predecessors.

The symbolic gesture of the RX-78F00/E Gundam pointing its finger towards the sky signifies a new space age for humanity, with its fingertip reaching an impressive height of 54.9 feet above the ground. The statue is expected to draw significant attention and interest from visitors during the Expo, which will run until October 13, 2025.

In addition to the Gundam statue, Danica Davidson, a renowned author in the manga industry, has shared valuable insights and resources for manga enthusiasts. Her works, including “Manga Art for Beginners” and “Chalk Art Manga,” offer a unique perspective on creating manga art, accompanied by illustrations from professional Japanese mangaka Rena Saiya.
