Netflix U.S. has recently started streaming the live-action series adaptation of Asami Hanzaki’s manga, “Talentless Takano.” The series premiered in Japan on TV Asahi’s “Friday Night Drama” programming block on October 11th. The story follows Tsumeko Takano, a seemingly talented woman who is actually talentless, and Michito Hiwada, an unfortunate office employee who appears incompetent but is actually competent at his job. The two form an unlikely duo and create miracles together.
The series stars Nanao as Tsumeko Takano, Akihisa Shiono as Michito Hiwada, Arata Iura as Itsuki Hatoyama, Asuka Kudō as Kōta Kijitani, Honami Satō as Akane Ukai, and Katsumi Takahashi as Mataichirō Suzaku. The direction is by Yoshiaki Murao and Takayoshi Tanazawa, with Nonji Nemoto writing the script and Masato Suzuki composing the music. Zarame performs the theme song titled “Mazu ha Kyō kara” (Starting Today).
The manga, originally serialized in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine, ended its serialization on September 25th. The first volume was published in 2020, and the final eighth volume was released on October 11th. The manga was well-received, ranking #11 in the manga for female readers category of Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook in 2021.
