The Apothecary Diaries Season 2’s Teaser Reveals January 10 Debut
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2’s teaser has been released, revealing that the anime will debut on January 10. The second season will air for a continuous half-year.
The live stream for the broadcast anniversary celebration of the anime adaptation of Natsu Hyūga and Touko Shino’s light novel series, The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto), unveiled the key visual, teaser promotional video, and the premiere date for the second season.
The anime’s staff also shared new character visuals along with the announcement. The second season is set to premiere on January 10 at 11:00 p.m. JST (9:00 a.m. EST) on Nippon TV’s FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT programming block and will run for two consecutive cours.
Crunchyroll will be streaming the second season of The Apothecary Diaries. The first season premiered in October 2023 with the first three episodes and ran for two cours. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan and also provided an English dub.
Norihiro Naganuma, known for directing The Ancient Magus’ Bride season 1, directed the first season at TOHO animation and OLM. Akinori Fudesaka served as the assistant director, and Yukiko Nakatani designed the characters. The sound direction was handled by Shōji Hata, while the music was composed by Satoru Kousaki, Kevin Penkin, and Arisa Okehazama.
The story follows Maomao, an ordinary girl with extraordinary medical knowledge, who finds herself in the emperor’s rear palace as a lady-in-waiting. The series explores her encounters and experiences in the palace, filled with intrigue and secrets.
The novel series was first serialized online in 2011, with print volumes published by Shufunotomo starting in 2014. The ongoing manga adaptation by Nekokurage began in 2017 in Monthly Big Gangan magazine. Square Enix Manga & Books is releasing the English versions of both the novel and manga adaptations.
Fans of The Apothecary Diaries can look forward to the second season starting on January 10 and continuing for a half-year, promising more drama and excitement in the emperor’s rear palace.
