Viz Media has recently announced the licensing of Gōshō Aoyama’s Yaiba: Samurai Legend manga, along with the upcoming new TV anime adaptation. The manga will be released in print by Viz Media starting in July 2025.

The story follows Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai boy who takes inspiration from the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. The series delves into the world of two-sword fighting and military strategy, drawing from historical influences.

The anime adaptation of Yaiba: Samurai Legend is being directed by Takahiro Hasui at Wit Studio. Touko Machida is responsible for the series scripts, while Yoshimichi Kameda serves as the character designer and chief animation director. Takeshi Maenami is the sub-character designer and main animator, with Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa handling the music composition. Haru Yamada is the sound director, and Maiko Okada is the animation producer.

Gōshō Aoyama originally serialized Yaiba in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday from September 1988 to December 1993, with a total of 24 compiled volumes. The series also received a 52-episode anime adaptation that aired from April 1993 to April 1994.
