The final episode of the seventh season of the My Hero Academia anime aired recently, and it was announced that the next season will be the final season. The new season is set to premiere in 2025. In a video announcement, Deku declares, “This is the story of how we became the greatest heroes,” before revealing that it will be the last season.
The returning staff for the final season includes chief director Kenji Nagasaki, director Naomi Nakayama, script supervisor Yōsuke Kuroda, character designers Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima, composer Yuki Hayashi, and studio BONES. TOHO is streaming a special video with live commentary for the final episode, along with an after-episode discussion.
The seventh season was announced after the sixth season concluded in March 2023. A four-episode special called My Hero Academia Memories premiered on April 6, featuring some new scenes. The new seventh season started on May 4, airing on YTV and NTV on Saturdays. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs.
Additionally, the fourth film in the My Hero Academia franchise, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, premiered in Japan on August 2 and in U.S. theaters on October 11. The film is available with English subtitles and dub releases.
The manga series, created by Kōhei Horikoshi, began in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014 and concluded on August 5. Viz Media publishes the manga in English digitally and in print in North America, while Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service offers the digital English version. The manga has achieved over 100 million copies in circulation worldwide as of April.
