Spike Chunsoft recently announced the release of the “Japan-esque wild action” game Bakeru in North America and Europe for the Nintendo Switch on February 25. The game was initially launched digitally in English on September 3 for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in North America and Europe. A demo for the game is also available for the Switch.
The game follows the story of Bakeru the Tanuki, who meets Sun from the Issun clan on a stormy night, leading to a series of events that shake the entire country of Japan. When Bakeru learns that Oracle Saitaro and his Festival Troops are using a strange festival to take over Japan, he embarks on a journey with Sun to restore peace to the land. Their adventure takes them through 47 Japanese prefectures as they battle evil spirits and work to free Japan from their influence.
Originally released in Japan for the Switch in November, Bakeru is developed by Good-Feel, known for titles like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Yoshi’s Crafted World. The game offers players a unique and immersive 3D action experience set in a fantastical version of Japan.
Fans of action-adventure games and Japanese culture can look forward to the physical release of Bakeru in the West this February. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to join Bakeru and Sun on their quest to save Japan from dark forces.
