The Elusive Samurai Season 2 Release Date and Updates
The Elusive Samurai was a big hit during the Summer 2024 anime season, and fans will be thrilled to know that Season 2 has been officially announced. While specific details about the new season have not been revealed yet, calligrapher Kamari Maeda has created some beautiful calligraphy for the announcement image.
Season 2 of The Elusive Samurai is currently in production at CloverWorks, with Yuta Yamazaki serving as the director. Yasushi Nishiya, known for character design work on Pokémon movies, is credited with the character designs for the anime. The original manga for The Elusive Samurai is created by Yusei Matsui, the mastermind behind Assassination Classroom. Matsui began the manga series in 2021, and both VIZ Media and MANGA Plus are releasing new chapters digitally with English translations to coincide with the Japanese release. Additionally, VIZ Media publishes print editions of the manga.
In the first volume of The Elusive Samurai, readers are introduced to Tokiyuki, who flees with a few loyal retainers after his family is massacred by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji. One of Tokiyuki’s allies is Suwa Yorishige, a unique individual who predicts that Tokiyuki will one day rule Japan. However, for now, their main goal is to escape from enemy territory.
