DAN DA DAN: First Encounter Theatrical Screening Grosses Over $1 Million in U.S. Box Office

In exciting news for anime fans, the first three episodes of the DAN DA DAN anime were screened in the U.S. over the weekend, earning an impressive $1,005,531 at the box office. The screening took place in 610 theaters across the country, ranking #13 in the U.S. box office.

The success of the DAN DA DAN: First Encounter screening in the U.S. follows previous limited-time screenings in Asia and Europe, with plans to expand to over 50 countries and regions, including Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa.

The anime is set to premiere in Japan on October 3 on TBS and MBS’s Super Animeism TURBO programming block. Netflix will also stream the anime worldwide, starting on October 3, with Crunchyroll also set to stream the series.

Fans can look forward to an English dub of the anime, which premiered at Anime NYC on August 24. The Japanese cast includes talented voice actors such as Shion Wakayama, Natsuki Hanae, and Mayumi Tanaka.

Directed by Fūga Yamashiro and produced by studio Science SARU, the anime promises a mix of paranormal mystery, battle, and romantic comedy elements. The series features a unique soundtrack by composer kensuke ushio and theme songs by Creepy Nuts and ZUTOMAYO.

Based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service, the anime follows the story of Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult enthusiast. Their adventures lead them to encounter paranormal activities that challenge their beliefs in ghosts and aliens.
