The new trailer for the second film in the Space Battleship Yamato remakes, titled “Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki” (The Assault of the Burning Sun), was revealed by the staff of Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199 (Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199). The film is set to open on November 22, and special limited edition Blu-ray Discs will be available at participating theaters during the screening run, with a retail release on January 29.

The first film, “Kuro no Shinryaku” (Dark Invasion), opened on July 19 and earned 58,863,050 yen in its first three days. The anime will be released as seven films and is being streamed by Crunchyroll under the title Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199.

New cast members for the upcoming films include Makoto Furukawa, Shun Horie, Takuya Eguchi, Yūto Uemura, and Kōsuke Toriumi in various roles. Naomichi Yamato is directing the anime, with Harutoshi Fukui serving as supervising director and head writer. The original work is credited to the late producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki, with Shōji Nishizaki as chief production supervisor.

The new project serves as a sequel to the Uchū Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi – Kōshō -STASHA- (Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage Part II: Stasha) film, which premiered in February 2022. The story of Yamato yo Towa ni (Be Forever Yamato) is set in the year 3199, continuing the legacy of the original Yamato anime projects.
