Two new character trailers have been revealed for the upcoming TV anime series The Stories of Girls Who Couldn’t Be Magicians, introducing Kurumi Mirai and Yuzu Ehderu. The anime, also known as Maho Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi in Japan, is set to premiere on October 4, 2024.

The series boasts a talented team behind the scenes, with Takashi Watanabe as the chief director, Masato Matsune as the director, Hiroko Kanasugi as the series screenwriter, Lily Hoshino as the original character designer, Mai Matsuura as the character designer, and Yoko Shimomura as the music composer. J.C.STAFF is handling the animation production for the series.

In addition to the main staff, the anime features a stellar voice cast including Hana Hishikawa, Misuzu Yamada, Yui Horie, Ayumi Mano, Yukiya Hayashi, Chiaki Kobayashi, Hikaru Midorikawa, Mikako Komatsu, Mako Morino, Tatsumaru Tachibana, Saori Goto, Yuka Nukui, and Sayumi Suzushiro.

The anime is based on the novel submission by Yuzuki Akasaka, which won the Isekai/Fantasy category of Project ANIMA. Project ANIMA is a collaboration between DeNA, Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, Sotsu, and MBS, aiming to produce original TV anime based on submitted novels, scripts, manga, and proposals.

Crunchyroll has acquired the license for The Stories of Girls Who Couldn’t Be Magicians and will be simulcasting it as part of its Fall 2024 anime lineup. The series follows the story of two friends, Kurumi and Yuzu, who aspire to become magicians and their encounter with a mysterious teacher that changes their fate.

In addition to this exciting news, Project ANIMA has previously produced series like Sakugan and Mobius Dust, winners of the Science Fiction/Robot and Kids/Game categories respectively. The selection process for Project ANIMA took place between February 2018 and March 2019, showcasing a commitment to originality and creativity in the anime industry.
